As space tourism continues to evolve, an organized methodology for point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) use is advised to best prepare astronauts for space. Ultrasound is one of the few diagnostic and therapeutic modalities available for astronauts in space. However, while POCUS is available and historically has been used for research, there is no current standard of training for astronaut preparation. This is the first Spaceflight Point-of-Care Ultrasound (SPOCUS©) course developed by national leaders in radiology, space medicine, and POCUS. This course will include a keynote lecture about the past, present, and future of space flight ultrasound coupled with a hands-on course led by industry leaders in this field. Hands-on content will include dedicated time for the evaluation of: deep vein thrombosis; ocular ultrasound; pulmonary ultrasound; and bladder/renal ultrasound. Focused on the most pertinent hands-on in-flight emergencies, this one-of-kind course is sure to be a new industry standard.
