Human spaceflight cannot be designed by one discipline alone.
The 2027 OSMED Innovation Summit will bring together professionals and emerging leaders across medicine, engineering, design, science and space operations for three days focused on interdisciplinary collaboration and the development of future human spaceflight systems.
Rather than relying solely on traditional lectures and panels, the summit will create opportunities for participants to work across disciplines, examine real challenges and explore how ideas become requirements that can ultimately be incorporated into missions and systems.
That reflects the planning document's stated emphasis on interdisciplinary collaboration and using requirements development as the framework for the summit.

The Summit Theme
The Art and Science of Human Spaceflight Mission Development
Innovation does not become part of a mission simply because it is a good idea. Scientists, clinicians, engineers, designers and operators must be able to understand one another, translate needs across disciplines and develop requirements that allow new ideas to become part of an integrated system.
The 2027 Summit will use that challenge as a framework for exploring interdisciplinary communication, collaboration and coordination.
Who Should Attend
The OSMED Innovation Summit is intended for professionals, researchers, students and organizations working across or adjacent to human spaceflight.
This includes people working in:
Medicine and human health
Engineering
Design
Science and research
Human performance
Mission operations
Commercial spaceflight
Policy
Hospitality and human experience
Education and workforce development
The summit is especially designed for people who want to work across disciplinary boundaries rather than remain inside a single specialty.
