Lonnie G Petersen, MD, PhD - OSMED Mentorship Committee Chair

Dr Lonnie Petersen M.D., Ph.D. and Associate Professor of Aerospace Engineering in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at MIT and Health Sciences and Technology, Harvard-MIT. She holds appointments at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard Medical School, and Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr Petersen’s clinical background is from Anesthesiology, she has primarily served in Intensive and Prehospital Care as well as Remote Area Medicine including service as Regional Physician in Greenland. Her PhD is in Gravitational Physiology and Space Medicine. Dr Petersen leads the Aerospace Physiology Lab at MIT which conducts research relating to human health and performance during spaceflight, aviation, search and rescue, as well as technology and medical device development. Her work is supported by NASA, DoD, NSF, and Draper labs.
