OSMED Women’s History Month Panel: Medicine

In honor of Women's History Month, OSMED is hosting a panel featuring some of our amazing members who are women in the fields of medicine, engineering, and design! This panel highlights women whose work as physicians, physiologists, and nurses are pushing the bounds of our knowledge of human spaceflight and interdisciplinary collaboration. This event is held in collaboration with Women in Aerospace Medicine. Come prepared with Q&A for these incredible speakers!

The panel will be hosted by Anna Shipman, OSMED Vice President of Relations.

Panelists include:

Alexandra Arce, M.D.
Family medicine trained physician working as an emergency medicine physician and hospitalist with additional training in HIV medicine, hyperbaric medicine, and obesity medicine.

Kate Flickinger, Ph.D.
Exercise physiologist and postdoctoral researcher at the University of Pittsburgh Department of Emergency Medicine Applied Physiology Lab.

Shawna Pandya, M.D.
Emergency medicine physician, aquanaut, and scientist astronaut candidate with the International Institute for Astronautical Sciences.

Christine Rincon, MSN
Critical care nurse, paramedic, and research fellow at the Advanced SpaceLife Research Institute.

Kat Schmolly, M.D.
Medical genetics physician at UCLA with a background in internal medicine and aerospace medicine through the United States Air Force.

Jennifer Watne, B.S.
Aerospace physiology technician and instructor at the University of North Dakota.
