Join us for a special OSMED Member Highlight featuring Phnam Bagley and Sheila Xu, two innovators helping shape the future of space exploration, accessibility, and human-centered design.
Hosted by Phnam Bagley, Project Lead of Orbital Hospital and co-founder of Nonfiction, this conversation will explore how design, engineering, accessibility, and lived experience can expand what is possible for future human exploration. Joining her is Sheila Xu, Director of Development and Ambassador at AstroAccess, pilot, researcher, and advocate for accessibility in aviation and space. As one of the first Deaf participants in a commercial analog astronaut program, Sheila is helping redefine who belongs in STEM, aviation, and space exploration.
This public event will highlight the importance of designing for the margins, building more inclusive systems, and recognizing accessibility as a driver of innovation. Attendees will hear a thoughtful conversation on space medicine, human exploration, mission design, and the future of accessibility in high-stakes environments on Earth and beyond.
This event is open to the public and will take place on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at 11:00 AM ET.
