OSMED Monthly Space Ethics and Law Interest Group Meeting (OPEN TO THE PUBLIC)

Join OSMED on Monday, November 2, at 4:00 PM ET for the monthly Space Ethics and Law Interest Group Meeting, open to OSMED members and the public.

Building on feedback from previous discussions, this month's meeting will focus on shaping the group's direction for the next six months. Participants will review a proposed plan introducing scenario-based discussions that examine challenges in human spaceflight through legal, policy and ethical perspectives.

The meeting will also explore opportunities to establish two collaborative research and writing teams focused on human health ethics and governance of crewed space operations, with the goal of developing white papers by April 2027. Participants will have opportunities to contribute ideas, help establish research priorities and volunteer for future discussions and projects.

Whether you are a legal professional, medical practitioner, researcher, student, policymaker, spaceflight enthusiast or simply curious about the ethical and legal questions surrounding space exploration, you are welcome to participate. No prior expertise or commitment to a writing team is required.

Join the conversation and help shape the discussions, research and collaborative work that will guide the group's next chapter.

About the OSMED Space Ethics and Law Interest Group

The OSMED Space Ethics and Law Interest Group brings together members from medicine, engineering, policy, and research to explore the ethical frameworks, legal structures, and regulatory environments that shape human spaceflight. Through recurring monthly discussions, the group examines emerging challenges, highlights current scholarship, and connects members with opportunities to contribute to the rapidly evolving landscape of space ethics, space law, and commercial and governmental mission oversight.
